Recent Progress Towards the Understanding of Atomic EDMs

Cheng-Pang Liu
Univ. of Wisconsin, Madison

In this talk, I will discuss some ongoing works related to the interpretation and calculation of atomic EDMs. The first part addresses the question whether nuclear excitations contribute to Schiff moments, and thus the measured atomic EDMs. The second part is about the estimation of the atomic EDM of 3He, which is one of the backgrounds in the developing neutron EDM measurement to be performed at SNS.
