Nucleons, Nuclear Matter and Quark Matter: a unified approach

Sarah Lawley
Jefferson Laboratory

We use an effective quark model to describe hadronic matter and deconfined quark matter. Using phase diagrams to illustrate the transitions to normal quark matter and to color superconducting quark matter, we calculate the equations of state and corresponding compact star properties. We find that the internal properties of the nucleon have important implications for the equation of state.
