Inhomogeneous phases in NJL-type models

Dominik Nickel
INT, Seattle

I will discuss chiral crystalline phases in the NJL and quark-meson model. Using a generalized Ginzburg-Landau expansion, I will first focus on their role in the vicinity of the chiral critial point and discuss the order of the phase transitions in the NJL model. In the following I will concentrate on one-dimensional modulations and show how results from lower dimensional models can be used to calculate the phase diagram and related properties.
