Towards a Better Understanding of Jets

Andrew Hornig
LANL

In this talk I review my work on the interplay between Jets and Jet Substructure studies, Monte Carlo Event Generators, and analytical tools (such as SCET, or Soft-Collinear Effective Theory). I will discuss calculations of multijet (sub)structure observables for both e+e- and hadron colliders; introduce the novel class of substructure observables known as "Q-jets," and discuss their analytically calculable analogs; and describe the SCET- and NLO-improved event generator GenEvA.
