Dangers of Crossing in the Dark

Effective theory parametrization of dark matter interactions has allowed for theoretically clean comparisons between dark matter experiments of various kinds. I will review the effective interaction framework and its recent applications and then discuss situations in which this dictionary for comparing experiments breaks down, discussing SUSY benchmark points which illustrate the effects of interest.
