The areas of Nuclear and Condensed Matter Physics research have a long history of sharing both conceps and techniques. In this talk I will give a brief description of three recent cases where this cross-pollination is currently being actively pursued: graphene, cold atoms & dilue neutron matter and orbital based density functional theory methods. After this short introduction I will describe the results of my work on the first two topics, leaving the third one for private discussions.
