TDHF in Three Dimensions and with Full Skyrme Forces: Surprises and Problems
Joachim Maruhn

Modern computers now allow the solution of the time-dependent Hartree-Fock equations without any symmetry restrictions and with a full modern Skyrme force. In this talk some exploratory results for collisions of deformed nuclei and heavy systems will be presented. A more detialed study of O16 + O16 collisions, however, reveals a hitherto unnoticed strong spin excitation caused by the spin-orbit term. We also show that omitting the Galilei invariance restoring terms leads to serious inconsistencies, and that there may be problems caused by single-particle wave functions reflected from the boundaries, similar to the case of giant-resonance calculations.
