On Glauber modes in Soft-Collinear Effective Theory

Grigory Ovanesyan
LANL, T2

Soft collinear effective theory (SCET) is an effective theory for QCD which has poved very useful in jet physics at high energy experiments. We motivate the inclusion of a new mode in SCET. Our explicit one-loop calculation shows that for consistency of effective theory, in order to properly describe the Drell-Yan cross section one needs to add the transverse to the beam axies gluon modes into the effective theory, which are called Gauber modes. In the second part of the talk we construct an effective Lagrangian which has this interaction and apply it for jets propagating through dense QCD matter
