Jets in 2012: BOOST and Beyond

Jets - concentrated sprays of hadrons - are a crucial ingredient in new physics searches and Standard Model measurements at the Large Hadron Collider. Recently a fertile area of research has ben using the detailed properties of jets to enhance the power of new physics seaches involving decays into jets. This has involved developing new algorithms for identifying jets, and extending the Standard Model theoretical tools for calculating jet properties. In this talk I will give an overview of recent progress in jet techniques, with focus on software and theoretical tools for understanding, comparing, and eventually synthesizing these techniques.
