The Lead Radius Experiment (PREX) uses parity violating electron scattering to measure the neutron radius of 208Pb. This electroweak reactions is free from most strong interaction uncertainties. We describe the experimeent, present first results, and discuss some of the implications for nuclear structure, atomic parity violations, and neutron rich matter in astrophysics.
