Towards Microscopic Pairing Functionals for Nuclear Energy Density Functional Calculations

The nuclear Energy Density Functional (EDF) approach is the microscopic tool of choice to study medium-mass and heavy nuclei in a systematic manner. Within such a method, superfluidity is typically treated through the Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov scheme. However, only phenomenological functionals have been used so far in this context ; e.g. built from a Gogny or a density-dependent delta effective vertex. Going beyond such a description is both formally and numerically challenging. In this seminar, I will present the first set of systematic EDF calculations of nuclear superfluid properties based on realistic NN interactions.
