Transmutation Calculations
Transmutation calculations involve the process of one material with
certain isotopics changing into another material with new isotopics.
There are many types of applications for transmutation, including
irradiation of nuclear material in reactors, spallation interactions in an
accelerator, transmutation of spent nuclear fuel, aging of nuclear waste,
and delayed neutron/gamma production. This talk will address the use of a
system-dependent Monte Carlo burnup code, Monteburns, for transmutation
calculations and discuss results from the aforementioned applications.
