Impact of the neutron skin of 208Pb on nuclear observables: from finite nuclei to neutron stars
The neutron radius of a heavy nucleus provides much needed
information on the poorly known density dependence of the
symmetry energy. I will discuss how the measurement of the
neutron radius of 208Pb at the Jefferson Laboratory, with
a promised 1% accuracy, impacts a variety of nuclear
observables -- from the ground-state properties of exotic
nuclei to the structure of neutron stars.
