Intermediate-Energy-Particle Induced Nuclear Fission: A dynamical statistical approach
A dynamical statistical approach which takes into account all the
stages of fission induced by intermediate-energy particles (intranuclear
cascade, evaporation cascade, fission of compound nucleus, and
evaporation from fission fragments) is formulated. In particular,
the dynamics of the descent of the fissioning nucleus from saddle point
to scission point is described by the diffusion model. The data on fission
of nuclei by intermediate-energy protons and stopped antiprotons have been
analyzed in the framework of this approach and good agreement between
theory and experiment observed.
