The MSW effect in the neutrino background
I will discuss the physics of coherent neutrino flavor conversion in the neutrino background. I will argue that
the essence of the effect can be simply understood as an interference of many elementary amplitudes, at the level
of undergraduate quantum mechanics. I will also review the recent mini-controversy in the field about the
existence of a novel many-particle coherent effect. As time permits, applications of the formalism will be
discussed.
