Application of Nuclear Data to DOE Programs

I will describe some recent work I have done validating predictions by the radiation transport code MCNPX of neutron leakage from a thick spallation target; validating through experiment the calculated performance of a cold Be reflector-filter for boosting cold source brightness at the Lujan Center; and calculations to assess whether the proposed LANSCE Materials Test Station can satisfy the irradiation requirements needed to qualify fuel for the reactor that will power NASA's Jupiter Icy Moons Orbiter. I will then present a high-level overview of the sources of DOE funding to T-16, and what we are doing in support of these programs. Finally, I will present some ideas on nuclear data work that should be of interest to our NW and TR sponsors.
