6435 1451 8 of bnl-325(2) incorporates data from many more measurements. 6435 1451 9 in addition, recent measurements and analyses of transmission 6435 1451 10 and capture data by pandey et al.(3,4) yield parameters for 167 6435 1451 11 resonances from 3 to 50 kev. a 1974 evaluation(5) of capture 6435 1451 12 cross section from 30 kev to 20 mev is also helpful. 6435 1451 13 a 1/v cross section is taken below 1 ev with 4.5 barns at 6435 1451 14 0.0253 ev(2). calculated cross sections from the resonance 6435 1451 15 parameters reproduce this 1/v behavior to within 1%. above 1 ev 6435 1451 16 the calculation drops faster than 1/v, being 3% lower than the 6435 1451 17 1/v cross section at 10 ev. thus at 10 ev we enter the 6435 1451 18 calculated cross section and joint it to the 1-ev cross 6435 1451 19 section by log-log interpolation. the bound level, adjusted 6435 1451 20 to fit the thermal cross sections(5), is responsible for 84% 6435 1451 21 of the capture cross section at 10 ev. 6435 1451 22 from 500 ev to 3 kev, resonance parameters are taken from 6435 1451 23 bnl-325(2). the most important changes from endf/b-iv are the 6435 1451 24 reduction of 6% in the radiative width of the 577-ev resonance 6435 1451 25 and the addition of 3 narrow resonances between 600 ev and 1 kev. 6435 1451 26 of the 167 resonances reported by pandey et al.(4) from 3 to 50 6435 1451 27 kev, only 12 with capture areas greater than 100 barn-ev 6435 1451 28 are given as resolved resonances. the remaining resonances 6435 1451 29 are averaged to form a smooth cross-section curve in file 3. 6435 1451 30 above 50 kev, the evaluation by drake and fricke(5) remains 6435 1451 31 up-to-date and is adopted. 6435 1451 32 the calculated resonance integral with a 0.5-ev cutoff 6435 1451 33 is 5.26 barns as opposed to 5.35 barns for endf/b-iv. the 6435 1451 34 contribution from the resolved resonances is 3.52 barns with 2.98 6435 1451 35 barns from the 577-ev resonance alone. the bnl-325 resonance 6435 1451 36 integral(2) is 4.9+-0.4 barns with the possible missing of 6435 1451 37 contributions from above 30 kev. 6435 1451 38 for all resonances except one, only errors in the resonance 6435 1451 39 energies, neutron widths and radiative widths are given in file 6435 1451 40 32. these are based on bnl-325(2) and pandey et al.(4). for the 6435 1451 41 577-ev resonance, covariance between the neutron and the radiative6435 1451 42 widths is also given and is calculated from an estimated 3% error 6435 1451 43 in the capture area. 6435 1451 44 for file 33, an error of 2% is given from 1.e-5 ev to 1 ev, 6435 1451 45 5% from 1 ev to 10 ev, 10% from 15.9 kev to 50 kev, and 20% from 6435 1451 46 50 kev to 20 mev. 6435 1451 47 ***** section 107 ***** 6435 1451 48 the evaluation of cu-63(n,a)co-59 cross sections by alter(1) 6435 1451 49 for endf/b-iv were based on the measurement of paulsen and liskien6435 1451 50 (6), which covers the energy range from 5.76 mev to 20 mev. 6435 1451 51 several other measurements(7-10),mostly arround 14 mev and having 6435 1451 52 larger errors, had negligible effect. 6435 1451 53 three facts motivated the present evaluation. firstly, 6435 1451 54 systematic disagreement exists between endf/b-iv and integral 6435 1451 55 data. the bias factor(11)deduced from the sand-ii adjustment on 6435 1451 56 the basis of category-i cross sections is about 1.43. secondly, 6435 1451 57 a precision measurement at 15 mev aimed at resolving the 6435 1451 58 disagreement has become available(12). finally, the first point 6435 1451 59 given in endf/b-iv is 0.1 mb at 5.5 mev, omitting a small 6435 1451 60 portion of the cross sections. 6435 1451 61 the cross sections arround 14 mev are listed below, together 6435 1451 62 with the equivalent
