A Possible Connection between Massive (Dark) Fermions and Dark Energy

Terry Goldman
LANL

If fermions interact with a scalar field, and there are many fermions present, the scalar field may develop an expectation value and generate an effective mass for the fermions. This could be a form of dark matter. Because this system may exhibit negative pressure, it also provides a model for dark energy. In this model, dark energy eventually turns into dark matter as the fermion density decreases.
