LA150 Documentation of Cross Sections, Heating, and Damage

The paper "LA150 Documentation of Cross Sections, Heating, and Damage," by M.B.Chadwick, P.G.Young, R.E.MacFarlane, P.Moller, G.M.Hale, R.C.Little, A.J.Koning, and S.Chiba, Los Alamos National Laboratory report LA-UR-99-1222 (1999), describes the evaluations from the new library of cross sections for incident neutrons and protons that has been produced to support the Accelerator Production of Tritium (APT) project. The neutron evaluations were created by adding data for energies from 20 to 150 MeV to the existing ENDF/B-VI evaluations. The proton evaluations are entirely new. The high-energy and charged-particle evaluations are based on detailed nuclear model calculations, and they are more accurate than the intranuclear cascade results previously used for calculations in this energy range.

The paper is presented in two forms. For those with fast network links, a single 36.6 MB pdf file is given: big.pdf. This pdf file contains "bookmarks" for easy access to the various sections.

For those who would prefer to browse through parts of the big report, small pdf files (typically .5 to .7 MB) for the various sections are available through the following links:

For more information on these evaluations, see the High Energy Data for Accelerator Applications page.
